The Power of Protein

Protein is so important for your body!

There are so many reasons to eat good, clean sources of protein in just the right amounts.

Protein is a special component of every cell in the body.  Our body uses protein to build and repair tissues.

Protein also plays a major part in the building blocks of bones, muscle, cartilage, skin, and blood in your body.  Our hair and nails are mostly made of protein!

And you need protein to make enzymes, hormones, and other body chemicals.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services:

  • Teenage boys and active men need three daily servings of seven ounces each.

  • For most women, children age 2 to 6, and older people, the government recommends two daily servings of five ounces each.

  • For active women, older children, teen girls, and most men, the guidelines give the nod to two daily servings of six ounces each.

Great, natural sources of protein include beans, avocado, fish, chicken, almonds, yogurt and egg whites.

So make sure your diet contains enough protein to support your healthy, active lifestyle!
